About WriteGirl

Founded in December 2001 by Executive Director, Keren Taylor, WriteGirl is a creative writing and mentoring program for at-risk teenage girls in Los Angeles. WriteGirl pairs girls with professional women writers for one-on-one mentoring and full-day creative writing workshops. Every girl who has completed the WriteGirl mentoring program has not only graduated from high school, but has gone on to college, in sharp contrast to the near-50% drop-out rate at many local public high schools.
