LAX Mural Features Haikus from WriteGirl Teens

WriteGirl recently collaborated with artist Renée Fox and curator Elizabeta Betinski of bardoLA to create "Songs of Freedom: Renée Fox + WriteGirl," a mural lining the halls of Terminal 7 at Los Angeles International Airport. The 218-foot mural pairs Fox’s graphite drawings of regional birds with 34 haikus written by WriteGirl teens on the themes of freedom and flight. The mural is on view for ticketed passengers through February 2020. It is expected that the mural will be viewed by more than a million people.

This week, the girls featured in the mural went on an exclusive field trip to view the piece and hear from the artist and curator.

They fly far from me -
I need to catch my dreams. Can't
let them go again.
