WriteGirl Alums Read Onstage at LA Times Festival of Books
WriteGirl alums shared their writing on the Poetry Stage at the LA Times Festival of Books on April 19, 2026 in celebration of WriteGirl’s 25th anniversary year.
Actor Sandy Green emceed the event and legendary LA poet Suzanne Lummis joined us a special guest poet!
WriteGirl Alum readers included Diana Balbuena, Alejandra Medina, Victoria Rosales, Rubin Pyxis, Franki Flameno, and WriteGirl teen JG Kimlevine performed her poetry as well.
“Reading my original poetry at the LA Times Festival of Books was such an amazing experience,” said WriteGirl alum Victoria Rosales. “I felt so honored to represent WriteGirl and share my work with such a welcoming and enthusiastic crowd!”
WriteGirl Alum Kicks Off the Festival with the USC Marching Band
WriteGirl alum Summer Hamzeh kicked off the festival with a poem about hope. Summer is the 2025-2026 California Youth Poet Laureate.
