WriteGirl Awarded Grant from the California Arts Council

We are excited to announce that WriteGirl has been awarded a grant from the California Arts Council! 

As one of more than 670 grant awards throughout California, this investment from the California Arts Council General Operating Support grant program supports our organization and its literacy-building work with 1,000 underserved teen girls and gender-expansive youth. During the next year, WriteGirl will present more than 100 creative writing, educational and leadership workshops for youth, at no cost to participants. Our 400 volunteers — professional writers, poets, screenwriters, journalists, and songwriters — will mentor teens and help them express themselves, build confidence, and enter college. This work will benefit the arts and culture community and our community at large. We believe that the arts make us who we are in California, and we are grateful for the CAC’s support for creative expression and their commitment to geographic equity and continued efforts to ensure that the arts are accessible across our state.
